Antonio and Alora walked deeper into the room and right before them was a cage. A man sat inside, his hair all grown and bushy. His face could barely be seen as it had covered his whole face, his mustache so dirty that it could make a person puke.

“How does it feel to be locked in here?” Antonio let out a mocking smile. Adriana was still in his arms.

The man turned and that was when his face was revealed. He was the exact look alike of Antonio.

One could have mistaken them for a twin….

The sleek, red sports car pulled up to the imposing gate of the mansion. Riccardo and Vincenzo stepped out, their tailored suits pressed, and their expressions stony. They had sighted Antonio’s car from afar and they knew they had arrived at their destination.

The air around them seemed to cackle with tension, and even the birds stopped singing as they approached the front door. Once they saw the fingerprint sensor right before the gate, they exchanged glances and Vincenzo immediately nodded his head.

Riccardo hid himself far away from the gate, while Vincenzo brought out his gun and fired the air. After doing that, he rested his back on the gate and waited for someone to open the gate.

And it happened. The gate was opened and a guy popped his head out, holding a firearm with him. Vincenzo didn’t grant him an opportunity to move a leg when he immediately landed a blow right on his throat.

The guy released a low guttural sound and instantly went down, losing his consciousness. Without wasting any time, the brothers made their way into the house. They were caught off guard by the men who attacked them, but they were quick on their feet.

Vincenzo ducked and rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a bullet that whizzed by his ear. Riccardo took cover behind a pillar, and he could hear the bullets ricocheting off the marble walls. The men kept coming, and the two brothers were quickly becoming overwhelmed. They needed a plan, and fast.

Just then, Riccardo noticed a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It was massive, with dozens of sparkling crystals. An idea began to form.

His eyes landed on the huge chandelier above them. “Cover me,” he said to Vincenzo. Then, he ran towards the chandelier, dodging the bullets that came his way.

He reached the chandelier and grabbed hold of one of the chains that hung from it. He pulled with all his strength, and the chandelier began to swing back and forth.
As the chandelier swung, it knocked one of the men off his feet. The man went crashing into a wall, and the chandelier continued to swing, knocking down another man.

Vincenzo took advantage of the chaos and ran towards one of the men who were still standing. He tackled the man to the ground, and they began to grapple. Riccardo saw that Vincenzo was struggling, so he swung the chandelier towards the men again. This time, it knocked both men to the ground, and they were unable to get back up.

Riccardo and Vincenzo had taken out half of the men who were attacking them. They looked at each other and nodded, ready to take on the rest.

As they stood in the center of the compound, Riccardo and Vincenzo were surrounded on all sides by armed men. The men had their guns trained on the brothers, and it was clear that they meant business.

“You two have caused enough trouble,” one of the men said. “You need to leave, and you need to leave now.”

Riccardo and Vincenzo exchanged a look. There was no way they could fight their way out of this. But they also couldn’t just give up. So, they did the only thing they could.

They ran.

They turned and sprinted towards the nearest door, but the men were fast and they quickly cut off their escape. Riccardo and Vincenzo skidded to a halt, and the men closed in around them. There was no way out.

Riccardo realized that if they could make it to the front door, they might stand a chance of escaping. “Run!” he shouted to Vincenzo, and they both took off towards the door.

The men turned, and their guns followed the brothers’ movements. Bullets flew through the air, but Riccardo and Vincenzo kept running. They were almost at the door when one of the bullets grazed Riccardo’s arm. He winced in pain, but he didn’t slow down. He knew they had to reach the door if they wanted to survive.

Fortunately, they reached the door and without hesitation, he flung the door open and they both entered, locking the door behind them.

They knew that wasn’t over. The men would probably alert others, but before they do so, they need to save Adriana first and who knows, find the masked man.

Vincenzo brought out his phone and began operating on it, his fingers moving on the keypad very fast.

“What are you doing?” Riccardo asked, taking a look around the house. They ought to be a clue somewhere. If Adriana’s abductor was in the mansion with them, he should have showed himself when they were battling with the men outside.

But, he didn’t. And that proved something. He was somewhere else in the house. Perhaps, an underground.

“Texting Theodore our location. He’s on his way with our men,” Vincenzo replied, inserting his phone into his pocket.

“You had this all planned out?” Riccardo asked in incredulity.

“I’m not the first man of the Moretti for nothing,” Vincenzo said. He glanced around the house before looking at Riccardo.

“They ought to be an underground here. This beautiful place can’t obviously be used for dirty shits,” Vincenzo stated.

Exactly my thoughts – Riccardo was tempted to say, but he chose not to. Being a Mafia, they’re well aware with things like this.

His eyes sighted a painting across the wall and slowly, he began moving closer to it.

One could have mistaken them for a twin….

“How long has it been? Seven years? Nah, eight years,” Antonio’s evil laughter rentted the whole place while Alora smiled beside him.

“Long enough for him to lose his voice,” she smirked. Antonio’s laughter echoed around the place, and it woke Adriana.

Her eyes fluttered open, and when she realized she was in a man’s arms, she started wiggling her arms and legs.

“Put me down, you bastard!” She screamed. A spank on her @$$ made her froze and her eyes widened. This bastard!

“Stay still,” the voice she heard made her recalled the previous events of the day. She was on her way to meet Riccardo when Antonio had offered her a ride in his car.

Right, Antonio! Why the hell would Antonio abduct her? What had come over him?

“Oh, I probably should silence her,” Alora giggled. She dipped her hands into a small purse attached to her gown and brought out a syringe.

Adriana shook her head when she saw that, but being the heartless person Alora was, she pricked Adriana’s neck with the syringe, injecting the substance into her system.

Adriana gasped. She tried to make a sound, but she couldn’t. Her blurry eyes went to Alora to find her smirking. The wench had fûcking taken her voice!

“Finally,” Antonio breathed when Adriana couldn’t make a sound. He glanced at the dirty man who was still locked in the cage.

He smiled ruefully. “For borrowing your identity for years, I’ll reward you with a beef soup for lunch! Hahahahaha,” he laughed hysterically and walked out of the room, Alora trailing behind him.

The dirty man watched as they walked away, a lone tear escaping his eyes. Living in darkness for years is like living in prison without bars.

It is like living in a prison without bars. You are trapped by your own fear and isolation, and you cannot see the light. It is a life of shadows and despair, where the only escape is in your imagination.
